Tiisetso Dladla stands at the forefront of immersive media (XR), holding the pivotal role of Postgraduate Coordinator and Lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand’s digital arts department. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Howard University and a Masters of Fine Arts in film production from New York University. 

Tiisetsi’s journey into academia and the Digital Creative Industries has been nothing short of remarkable. Currently pursuing her doctoral degree studies as a new archival visions PhD fellow at the Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) at the University of the Western Cape, Tiisetso’s research focus is on Immersive Time Capsule: Repurpose archives of Liberation in virtual reality documentaries, in collaboration with Robben Island Mayibuye Archives.

Tiisetso’s expertise spans a wide array of disciplines, including immersive media, extended reality (XR), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), archival studies, documentary and narrative filmmaking, screenwriting, animation, black feminist film theory, photography, decolonial film theory, and visual history.
